Rewind back more than a year ago. We were trying to up our internal communications game, so we experimented with a few different platforms. We tried a private tumblr, because we wanted something very simple, but the commenting fuctions just weren't robust enough. We did demos, searched for other options. Joe found a really promising one, which we used long enough to get used to (and really depend on for info-sharing). Then the platform was bought out by someone else, and quickly shuttered down. Big boo.
We looked at the landscape again, but our own ideas on what this sort of platform should include were mounting. Joe coded away behind the scenes to create a bare bones activity feed for info-sharing. We called it "Ankle" because - well why not? When you don't have a name for something, a silly placeholder sometimes takes foot. (See what I did there?)
We've used it and loved it for the past 6 months. But we knew we wanted more. We've had ideas around culture calendars, career paths and all sorts of things that intersect with employee experience. So, we're plotting and planning this new sharing space. Stay tuned for our progress!.
Our team for this project is: Sara McGuyer (that's me!), Joe Downey, Colin Ulin, Jeb Banner, Drew DeBoy and Nick Klooz. Here's the dream team in action:
