This edition was notable because we had two team members just getting started with SmallBox. Factory Week is a pretty good way to get to know who we are and what we're about!
We returned to the Speak Easy to dig into 23 projects, one of them being a mystery (only Jeb knew, that tricky trickster!). We wrote project personas to help us examine how we work (and how we aspire to work), we wrote job descriptions for our entire team, we designed a new emails template and other stuff for Musical Family Tree. We even watch a movie together (Eames!).
CJ McClanahon came by for an afternoon workshop to determine personal purpose statements and goals for each of us. At this time in our evolution, understanding purpose had become ever more important for SmallBox and for our work with clients too. This workshop with CJ was the perfect extension of those beliefs.
It's one of the most memorable Bible verses- "Go to the ant, thou sluggard and consider her ways." Perhaps as memorable for its implicit wisdom as its use of "sluggard". The message is "work hard to succeed". Seems sound, right?
Changes are afoot at the SmallBox office! With everyone working at the Speak Easy this week, Emily and I - and of course, the helpful Ramona - are taking the opportunity to change, update, and maintain a few things around the office.
Factory Week is an important time for Musical Family Tree, because we get to focus more on “behind the scenes” projects that we’re developing. This time around, we focused on finalizing our website redesign with Jack Shepler.
SmallBox began sketching and wireframing Wrangle, our content gathering tool, during our first Factory Week. We're still adding features and testing it before it's ready for a full launch into the world.
One conversation we've been having this week is how can we keep refueling our creative fires? Factory Week is one way of course, but we can't always take a full week to recharge.
Thanks to Elizabeth for bringing us some awesome barbeque... we definitely grazed! (And btw, it appears the shredded pork is the clear favorite amongst SmallBoxers.)
Yesterday we closed out the day with an awesome session with Jeb's business coach CJ. We worked through exercises to help us create our own personal mission or purpose statement and discussed habits that help in achieving goals.
Tyler, Emily, and I took a quick break from the list of projects to pick up a gently-used table and chairs for the SmallBox rooftop.
Gonna be another hot day at the Speak Easy... and we're ready to hit the ground runnin (wore my hot new kicks for the occassion!)
Have we mentioned we have a new hire in the house? Welcome to Jason Ward, who on his second day with SmallBox is helping refine our new organization chart (more on that later!)
Dan and Emily are really taking one for the team. They are soon to embark on a 3 hour test-taking journey that will prove their mastery of Google AdWords.
Hot off the presses! We just got in our new t-shirts. Neil created a brand new look this time around. 482 square feet of whiteboards! 2400 minutes! Lots and lots of projects...
